Polygondwanajams I haven't listened to every song by The Modern Folk, but of the ones I have "Lovely/Deadly" is easily my favorite. This is also my favorite album of the ones I've listened to so far. Favorite track: lovely/deadly.

Don’t Let My Heart Grow Cold is such a great opener……1000 Acres Improv and Glenwood Park Improv each sound like something straight out of Jim O’Rourke’s - Eureka session.

I’ve only heard, Black Is The Color, performed as a dirge and yet somehow The Modern Folk makes it sound “popish.”

The use of field recordings is masterful. Favorite track: don't let my heart grow cold (ft. GCG).

Allister Thompson A fascinating mix of styles, from weird pop to twisted takes on trad music. Tom Waits...Pearls Before Swine...John Fahey...underground hip-hop and...Stockhausen? A really coherent blend of an album by a true original, and a talented one. Favorite track: peggy o.
